Elephant Local Project: Our Commitment
At Tubing Chiang Mai, we are dedicated to supporting elephant sanctuaries operated exclusively by local community members. Though we do not operate an elephant camp ourselves, we proudly collaborate with community-run elephant camps that prioritize ethical interactions and sustainability, ensuring the elephants' well-being.

Guests participating in our activities, such as elephant feeding, directly contribute to both the elephants' welfare and the conservation efforts of these local sanctuaries. Furthermore, more than 90% of the food provided for elephant feeding is locally produced, creating employment opportunities and fostering economic stability within the community.

By choosing to support locally-run elephant camps, we advocate for sustainable tourism, empower local communities, and promote responsible wildlife experiences. Join us in preserving Thailand's precious elephant heritage and promoting harmonious coexistence with nature.
Sunshine-for-Elephants
The transformation undertaken by Kwan and her husband, from running a small elephant camp that offered riding experiences to establishing a sanctuary for these majestic creatures, is a testament to their compassion and commitment to animal welfare. Facing a pivotal moment when one of their elephants fell ill years ago, they chose to embrace change, leading to a remarkable journey of drastic improvement over the past five years.
Although the passing of two elephants named Kanjana and Wassana leaves a void, their legacy lives on in the sanctuary's current residents, Ta Mon and Sri Prai. Through Kwan and her husband's dedication, these elephants now enjoy a life of freedom and tranquility, roaming the forest and engaging in natural behaviors. The noticeable improvements in their health and demeanor are visible due to the positive impact of this transition.
Beyond the individual care provided to Ta Mon and Sri Prai, Kwan and her husband's project symbolizes a broader shift in attitudes towards animal welfare in tourism. By prioritizing the well-being of the elephants and offering them a chance to live in their natural habitat, they set a powerful example for responsible and ethical practices in the industry.
Their story serves as an inspiration, highlighting the transformative power of empathy and the importance of reevaluating traditional approaches to animal tourism. Kwan and her husband have not only improved the lives of the elephants under their care but have also contributed to a growing movement towards more compassionate and sustainable interactions with wildlife. We support local businesses for sustainable tourism, providing opportunities for communities to generate income from the tourism sector.
